VirtualDJ 2024 has been released for early access, offering DJs new features focused on cloud storage and library management – plus the ability to use Fuzzy Keymixing, the Digital DJ Tips method of keymixing that has taken the DJ world by storm in the last couple of years.
CloudDrive: A new free cloud library
The highlight of VirtualDJ 2024 is the introduction of CloudDrive, a new feature that allows DJs to sync their playlists and music files to the cloud, enabling access and streaming from any location.
CloudDrive is compatible with popular cloud services such as Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, and Dropbox, and unlike Rekordbox’s cloud feature, it functions without the need for an extra subscription. If you have space in your existing cloud provider for your DJ music, it won’t cost you a penny more.
CloudDrive can be used in various ways, such as creating an “emergency list” of favourite tracks for quick streaming on a friend’s computer, syncing a main music folder for backup security, or using a three-way sync to ensure that playlists prepared on a home computer are always updated on a gig computer.

Library improvements
VirtualDJ 2024 consolidates all previous list storage methods, such as playlists and virtual folders, into the new MyLists. These lists support “HotPlug”, allowing lists to remain linked to files even when moved to a portable drive or USB stick. Users can opt for de-duplication and choose how their lists are ordered. Additionally, quick-access shortcuts have been added to the toolbar, enabling DJs to customise folder shortcuts with icons and colours for easy identification.
Another new feature is the Linked-track view, which functions like a personalised feedback system based on the DJ’s own mixing history or manually linked tracks. This allows DJs to remember successful song combinations by quickly setting up links.
Fuzzy Keymixing
VirtualDJ 2024 follows Rekordbox, Djay Pro and Engine DJ in implementing Fuzzy Keymixing, the Digital DJ Tips-invented method of mixing in key that brings huge benefits over the way it has been taught to DJs up until now. (Learn more about Fuzzy Keymixing here.)
Users interested in trying out the new features can enable Early Access by setting “EarlyAccessUpdate” to “yes” in VirtualDJ’s options. However, as ever it is advised not to use Early Access versions for live performances at important gigs.
