V-Moda just announced the Crossfade M-100 Master, the follow up to its acclaimed Crossfade M-100 headphones. The Crossfade M-100 Master is Hi-Res Audio certified, meaning it’s rated to reproduce sound from 5Hz – 40kHz, which theoretically means it’s supposed to sound “better” compared to its predecessor (5Hz – 30kHz for those keeping count).

You still get 50mm speaker drivers onboard for deep bass and a full sound, redesigned memory foam ear cushions for comfort and noise isolation, an “exoskeleton” carrying case, and the compact, striking design that the Crossfade M-100 is known for. You can even customise the ear cups (called “shields”) so they bear your logo or a texture, and V-Moda does them in-house when you order online.

The V-Moda Crossfade M-100 is one of our favourite headphones. They are slick and tend to stand out in a DJ world dominated by Pioneer DJ and Sennheiser cans. The new Crossfader M-100 Master updates the core feature set of the original M-100 but adds new speaker drivers that are meant to take advantage of Hi-Res Audio files. We can’t comment yet on whether those files sound better when played through these headphones, but if these cans sound as good as the original M-100 (regardless of the music files that you play), then that’s an awesome start. Watch out for our review of them soon.
