Mighty is an on-the-go Spotify player that doesn’t need a smartphone, an internet connection or mobile reception to stream your favourite tracks. Mighty pairs with your phone running the Mighty app which syncs with your Spotify account. You are then able to store songs offline on Mighty for playback on-the-go without your phone. Mighty has 8GB of storage onboard – that’s enough space to save about 1000 songs across multiple playlists.

Mighty works with both Bluetooth and wired headphones and speakers. It looks similar to the iPod Shuffle and has a five-hour battery life. Shuffle functionality is currently unavailable on the Mighty, but a software update providing this function and other improvements are promised for mid-October.

We think Mighty is a nifty development in the streaming sphere. The fact that it works offline means that DJs can forget about tanning their phone batteries and mobile data when out and about and in “music discovery” mode – let’s face it, us DJs tend to be mining charts, playlists and compilation albums for gems for our sets much more than the general public does.

(Haven’t incorporated a music streaming service like Spotify into your discovery system yet? Where have you been? Get on it…)

Mighty has now been fully funded on Kickstarter. We look forward to putting it through its paces soon.
