In a development that will not surprise anyone, Serato has announced that support for using its stems functions when streaming music from Tidal is being phased out.
This first happened with VirtualDJ, then Engine DJ on Denon DJ and Numark standalone gear – and it’s coming from the record labels, not Tidal themselves. So all Tidal integrations with software will be affected by this sooner or later.

In the case of Serato, Stems will cease to function when you are using music from Tidal’s streaming service within Serato software, as of the update being rolled out from 11 December. So if you want to hang on to Tidal Stems, don’t update your Serato for as long as possible!
We’ll keep you updated on developments to this story as they happen, because maybe Tidal will have a change of heart in the new year. But as of now, Tidal Stems are a no-go for DJs, and if you are using them, you’re unfortunately on borrowed time.
