Serato has announced today Serato DJ Kits, a handful of upgrade bundles consisting of Serato DJ and a number of add-ons designed to appeal to different types of DJs and VJs alike. You can save as much as US$185 compared to buying the packs individually and switching up from Serato DJ Intro. For DJs still using Serato Scratch Live and Itch, you can take advantage of this by first migrating to Serato DJ, which is a free upgrade.
With the exception OF Pitch ‘n Time DJ, we sometimes overlook the expansion packs that Serato DJ has on offer because, to be honest, the vanilla version of Serato DJ already does things so well. However, recent expansions like Serato Flip really do stretch the capabilities of the software leading to more value for you, and Serato DVS is a must if you want to use a turntable or CDJ with your compatible controller (the DDJ-SX2 and Akai AMX come to mind…)
Personally, I’ve been holding off on the FX packs, simply because I haven’t had the time to try them all out one by one to determine which I should get. If you’re like me, at under US$50 for all three of them, now might be the time to do something about that!
• Serato DJ Kits are available now at the Serato Online Store, ranging from US$49 to US$299.
Do these bundles entice you to go “all in” for the full Serato DJ experience? Are you a Scratch Live or Itch user who still hasn’t upgraded to Serato DJ? If so, which of these are you planning to get? Let us know in the comments below.
