The brand-new Akai AMX will be one of the first DJ controllers that works with Serato’s new DVS Expansion Pack for Serato DJ.

As well as offering support for Serato Flip, the just-announced Serato DJ 1.7 will be compatible with a brand-new Serato Expansion Pack that will bring DVS (digital vinyl) functionality to selected Serato controllers, initially including the Denon DJ MC6000 Mk2, the Pioneer DDJ-SX2, and the new Akai AMX.

Other features of the release include a Midi panel for Midi mapping additional features, the ability to sort cues chronologically (and re-order them by dragging and dropping), and mic/aux input recording for a whole host of controllers, too.

An unusually large list of bug fixes and other changes include much asked-for improvements in the handling of large numbers of files/crates, better platter latency on the Pioneer DDJ-SX, better Novation Twitch touchstrip control, and the keeping in sync of hardware thru / software thru modes, removing any dropout in audio when switching.

As is always the case with these upgrades, Serato DJ 1.7 will support all the latest Serato hardware, including the Numark NV and the Akai AFX / Akai AMX.

• Serato DJ 1.7 is now in public beta, and is to be launched officially in September. More about the DVS Expansion Pack here, and the public beta here.
