Death to Vinyl
See the name of the cartridge manufacturer? Nice…

Do you know any DJs who say “vinyl will never die”? The kind of people who in their unspoken thoughts are petrified of the thought of a future world where all DJs are wired in to the cloud, spinning “tunes” with merely their thoughts? A world where taste and programming have overtaken the ability to mindlessly beatmatch records ad infinitum?

Yes? Then this definitely the ultimate product for them. Because an enterprising music industry type from Britain is offering to press anyone’s ashes (yes, that’s ashes, as in after you die) into a real record, complete with a soundtrack of your choice!

Company founder Jason Leach, who was in the techno group Subhead in the 1990s, sells it like this:

“When the album that is life finally reaches the end, wouldn’t it be nice to keep the record spinning for eternity?

“We offer you the chance to press your ashes in a vinyl recording your loved ones will cherish for generations. Record a personal message, your last will and testament, your own soundtrack or simply press your ashes to hear your pops and crackles for the minimal approach.”

It’s what my grandad used to call “house”
So if a vinyl stick-in-the-mud in your life fancies the idea of their great grand-children dusting off their 1210s in years to come and spinning some choice grooves of their own, erm, making, why not suggest that they head over to the And Vinyly website to find out more…

What would you record on your death disc? Or would you rather leave your “vinyl testament” on SoundCloud?Let us know… before it’s too late!
