The Lowdown

The main addition here over and above the DJM-900NXS is the screen, which is used for beat slicing and to control a seven-band crossfader EQ, among other things. ProLink means syncing up to four CDJs and everything syncs nicely with laptops running rekordbox too, and there is full Midi mode for software control. It may be daunting, but the Pioneer DJM-2000NXS has just about everything you’d ever need in a mixer…

First Impressions / Setting up

The DJM-2000NXS is a four-channel mixer with a 5.8” LCD touch screen to control a number of features as well as a host of different effects.

All the channels have three-band EQs which acts as Isolation knobs as well and a trim knob. The input can be set to line or CD level to properly set the input signal. A filter knob is directly below the EQs. The effects section of the unit also has its own three-band EQ.

Connectivity includes the ability to connect up to four controllers plus two PCs, a mic input and unbalanced RCA input. The DJM-2000NXS also has Wi-Fi and USB connectivity.

In Use

The large LCD touchscreen makes operating and accessing the DJM-2000NXS a lot easier than its supposed to be. Playing around with the device’s Beat Divide function is made intuitive because of the touchscreen.

The knobs and faders all feel great and has a premium quality to them. The same can easily be said for the buttons which have a familiar sturdy feel.

The built-in peak limiter is very useful if you accidentally find your track a bit too loud coming into the mixer. The effects sound great and the added EQ function helps in dialing in just the right amount.

An Amazon reviewer mentioned that the DJM-2000NXS is a bit intimidating with all the features it has and that might be true especially if you’re just starting out. Along with its heavy price tag, the DJM-2000NXS is definitely for someone who knows his way around a mixer.

Conclusion

With a host of different effects and advanced functionality, the Pioneer DJ DJM-2000NXS is definitely not for the faint of heart. The LCD touchscreen feature puts it over the top and if you want a serious piece of gear with the price tag to boot, the DJM-2000NXS might just be what you’re looking for.
