Pioneer DJ just released an update to its Rekordbox software. Now at version 5.5, it adds a new Feedback Reducer option that minimises microphone feedback when using the DDJ-800 and DDJ-RR controllers. Lighting Mode has also been improved by adding a brightness control and new combo fixtures to its compatibility list.
Finally, a new “plug-and-play” feature has been implemented, allowing you to connect a DDJ-400, DDJ-800 or DDJ-1000 controller to any laptop and spin with Rekordbox DJ without the need for a Rekordbox DJ licence key. However, if you want to use Rekordbox DJ without the aforementioned controllers connected, you will still need a Rekordbox DJ licence.
Rekordbox DJ is quickly climbing to the top of the digital DJ ladder – it wasn’t too long ago that the first (and quite buggy) version of Rekordbox DJ was launched, and it has matured at a surprising pace. Pioneer DJ is quick to pump out updates, adding in big new features and small tweaks to make it both competitive and increasingly stable.
The new Feedback Reducer will be a welcome feature for mobile and pro DJs who use microphones extensively in their sets, and plug-and-play compatibility with the new range of DDJ controllers means that more DJs can use Rekordbox DJ without the hassle of buying and activating licences.
