DJs who use Beatport or Beatsource streaming services and download stores now have the option of using lossless audio, thanks to both of these platforms incorporating FLAC files for the first time.
When using Beatport or Beatsource streaming, in either the Beatsource Streaming Pro Plus+ plan or the Beatport Professional plan, FLAC is also available within DJ software integrations for the first time.
When purchasing music, DJs can select FLAC as the format for each track or for all the tracks in a basket. Alternatively, they can change their default file format to FLAC for all future purchases.

Note that for streaming, FLAC is currently not available in Pioneer DJ/AlphaTheta standalone set-ups. It’s not clear whether it’s available within Engine DJ standalone from the information we have.
Why FLAC?
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is an audio format that compresses music files without losing any quality. Unlike MP3 or AAC, which are lossy formats that discard some data to reduce file size, FLAC retains all the original sound information while still offering compression to save space.
This means they’re quicker to download, take less disk space to store, and especially when used in a streaming service, far more practical than other lossless options that aren’t compressed, such as WAV files.
