Pioneer DJ just announced the XDJ-RX2 two-channel all-in-one DJ system. It’s an update to the original XDJ-RX, and now includes eight performance pads per channel, a 7″ high-resolution touchscreen, improved browsing controls, onboard Color FX from the DJM-900NXS2 mixer (Dub Echo, Sweep, Filter, and Noise) plus a parameter knob for added tweaking, two mic inputs, two phono / line inputs for connecting turntables or DJ media players, and a USB jack for connecting straight to your laptop to load tunes from Rekordbox or to control Rekordbox DJ.
It still has a two-channel mixer onboard, two USB jacks for connecting thumb drives, two jogwheels, an aux input, and onboard Beat FX. Rekordbox DJ and Rekordbox Video licences are included, and two types of protective carrying cases are available separately: a flight case and a zippered hardshell case.
We’ve already posted about the XDJ-RX2 earlier, but it’s only now that we’re getting full details on its specifications. The hi-res touchscreen is a welcome addition as this allows you to search for tracks using the software Qwerty keyboard. Coupled with the new browsing controls, they make for quicker track selection in a pinch.
The onboard Color FX and Beat FX take some of the most popular effects used in a club-standard DJM-900NXS2 mixer. That allows you to practise and get familiar with the effects at home on an XDJ-RX2, so you’re ready to use those same effects when you spin at a club.
The ability to load songs from Rekordbox on your computer will be convenient for mobile and pro DJs who need to spin from a large music collection, but who don’t want to look at their laptops while they spin.
