Smithson Martin
We’ve finally had a hands on with that intriguing Smithson Martin K32 touchscreen controller here at the NAMM Show…

OK, so when we saw the NAMM press release of this a few days back we were intrigued, but I have to say it does make more sense when you see it close up. You first notice its size (it is much bigger than most of the control surfaces it can ape), then you realise that DJing with dozens of controllers according to your whim on just one screen might actually be a lot if fun.

As well as DJ controllers, the Smithson Martin KS32 and associated Emulator software (now for Mac as well as PC) can give you control over production software (we saw a convincing Ableton Push template), as well as control of lighting. Not many people are going to drop $2,500 for what to some will just appear to be a huge touchscreen, sure, but those who do are very likely going to enjoy using it a lot…
