Kontrol Fighter
Midi Fighter anyone? This arcade style controller caught my eye while I was passing through the Smithson Martin booth at NAMM 2016.

Spotted this at the Smithson Martin stand here at NAMM 2016 – it’s a button controller for DJ/producers that’ll remind you of the Midi Fighter from a few years back, and not just because of its name (one of my favourite controllers of all time, I’ve still got it in my studio!)

The Kontrol Fighter works a little differently though: you don’t need to map any of the physical controls to any virtual knobs or faders, you just have to hover over them with your mouse and you can tweak it using the rotary control or one of the buttons on the face of the unit. It looks like a cool little transport controller for your bedroom studio once you’ve eased it into your workflow.

Check out our talkthrough video below to see it in action.

• The Smithson Martin Kontrol Fighter will be available from February 2016 for US$299, and US$199 for the smaller model.

What do you think of these controllers? Do you use one dedicated to your transport and scrubbing controls, or would you rather use a keyboard and mouse only? Let us know below.
