So, as per the title, the above is Majistrate opening The Temple at Glastonbury the other week. And now we want to know: What was your best ever start to a set you’ve had when DJing? What type of gig was it? Where was it? Which track did you pick and why?
I’ll start off: My best start was when I was booked to headline at a club in a small city a few hours away from home. I arrived and met the promoters in the early afternoon before being given a tour of the city and grabbing a bite to eat. During that time, I was fretting a bit about what to play and we only got back to the club just before it opened to the public.
I had a couple more hours to wait until my slot and in the end, I only decided on my opening track when I was on the dancefloor about five minutes before I got on. I kind of cheated a bit, as I was asking what people thought of the music being played and what they wanted to hear.
Armed with that little bit of inside information, I put my first track on and they went wild. This kicked off what is still my favourite DJ experience.
So, over to you: What was the best start to a DJ set you’ve ever had? Which are your go-to opening tracks? Let us know in the comments below…
