Beatpad 2
The new Reloop Beatpad 2 adds RGB performance pads, better EQ and filter controls, plus improved key mixing and library features.

So we’re off for Musikmesse 2015, with the first of the slew of announcements we’re expecting over the next week or two: A new controller from Reloop, the Beatpad 2, which builds on the original Beatpad controller with the addition of RGB performance pads for each of its decks.

The Beatpad 2 works with Algoriddim’s djay 2 software on the iPad (or any iOS device) plus Android 5.0 upwards, and has a built-in mounting slot at the back for such units. Additionally, it works seamlessly with djay Pro on the Mac. The addition of fully featured performance pads with Hot Cue, Auto Loop, Touch FX, Slicer, Sampler, Bounce Loop, Jog FX and Slice Loop functions on them add a new layer of power to this popular controller.

One interesting addition is switchable EQ and filter functions. Reloop says: “Thanks to the flexible EQ preset switch on the device’s rear side, each channel can be adjusted according to the DJ’s individual requirements. You can either switch the dedicated filter in the channel strip to a low and high pass filter, or expand the mixing surface to include a 3-band EQ.”

The Beatpad 2 also has harmonic mixing controls (including pitch shift) and improved library functions, including preview, right on its surface. djay LE Mac edition DJ software is available as a download with pruchase, and the controller includes USB, Lightning, Android OTG cables and a power supply unit. Spotify Premium subscribers can DJ using djay 2 directly from Spotify.

• The Reloop Beatpad 2 will be available this June at €499.
