iZotope’s RX 11 Audio Repair Software Has New Tricks For DJs

Last updated 21 May, 2024

iZotope has announced RX 11, the latest version of its audio repair tools suite, that has some notable features that should appeal to DJs serious about the music they play.

Available in Elements, Standard, and Advanced versions, and as both a standalone piece of software and suite of DAW plugins, the software – in the words of iZotope – “combines the power of visual-based spectral editing with purpose-built tools for fixing and polishing audio.”

Dialogue Isolate makes it easy to extract and clean up dialogue from anywhere, and is one of the features we think DJs will find useful.

This is an established tool for audio post-productions in Hollywood as much as in music studios. So while its core use is clearly wider than music and DJing, here is what we think is going to attract DJs to it:

  • Music Rebalance – For many DJs, the smart way to prepare stems for DJing is to do so ahead of time, and iZotope’s RX 11 has state-of-the-art stems tech with tweaks you don’t get in DJ software stems features, like bleed adjustment
  • Loudness Optimize – Want to make older music sound loud and thumping, so when you mix into it during your sets, it doesn’t drop the energy so much? Try running such tracks through this process
  • Dialogue Isolate – Want dialogue to use in DJ drops? You can extract dialogue from anywhere, de-reverb it, tidy it up, and then use in your sets (or productions)

Traktor, meet RX 11?

So here’s something else: iZotope is now owned by Native Instruments. So is Traktor. Traktor currently has no real-time stems. What if the two, y’know, walked across the hall and spoke to each other?

Watch this space for news on that, but for now, the $299 introductory purchase price for Standard which will get you all of the above is available until 13 June, says iZotope. (Other prices are $49 for Elements, and $799 for Advanced, again until 13 June only). More info on the iZotope website.
