I feel that to play straight my house set would be a little too much of a step to make for this type of audience. What would you do in this situation?”

Wel I think you’ve called it right – definitely playing house straight after a rock band would probably be a step too far. Firstly, don’t worry too much about mixing. Just work on on taking a really wide choice of music so you can chop and change depending on what you find and what people seem to be into. These can be the hardest of DJing jobs, but also the most rewarding when you get it right – and you always learn a lot from gigs like this in my experience. I had a regular gig playing before, between and after bands, and I got to spin a really wide selection of interesting music I wouldn’t otherwise get to play – I loved it.
Over to you! Do you play at events where there’s also live music? what tips can you offer to Tamme? Please let us know in the comments below.
