Serato has just announced updates to its Serato DJ Pro and Serato DJ Lite apps. The new Serato DJ Pro 2.2 adds a brand new Day Mode interface which inverts the colours onscreen, making it easier to see your laptop when DJing under harsh sunlight. Both Serato DJ Pro and Serato DJ Lite get the new play count category in the browser that lets you see how many times a song has been played, which you can use for sorting tracks.
Other upgrades include improved waveform visual performance, tweaks to HID Mode and music streaming, and 64-bit compatibility with Serato Video for Mac users.
It’s nice to see these performance and UI tweaks to Serato DJ – we’ve written about how to go about hacking Day Mode in whatever DJ software you’re using, but admittedly it isn’t as quick or as convenient as having a button that instantly inverts your laptop’s display. It’s going to be perfect for this summer season if you’re playing out at beaches, barbecues, festivals and other daytime parties.
