Beatport and Beatsource have announced lossless streaming audio inside their DJ platforms, for users subscribed to their Beatport Streaming Professional and Beatsource Streaming Pro+ plans.

They say: “Our highest quality lossless audio is available in most of our DJ integrations, with Traktor and Rekordbox coming soon. Serato support for Windows is also on the way, with Mac support ready now.”

Hmmm, so will it be in MY integration?

Maybe not immediately, as clearly from the above, not all platforms are currently supported. Supported right now are Algoriddim’s Djay Pro, Serato (Mac), DJ.Studio and DJUCED, but not yet Rekordbox, Serato (Windows), Traktor or VirtualDJ. They’re coming soon we understand, though.

How do I turn it on?

Swapping between standard, high, and lossless audio quality.

Usually inside your Beatport account online, although the ability to switch is going to be added to DJ software too, we’ve been told (it’s in Djay Pro already, apparently).

Why Flac?

Flac offers lossless audio quality, but faster loading compared to Wav or Aiff.

Is it on standalone too?

No, currently this is only available on DJ platform integrations, and therefore not supported by the CDJ-3000/XDJ-AZ or Engine DJ OS (Denon DJ, Numark).
