Always wanted to make your own sounds but didn’t know where to start? Do you find synthesis confusing? Ableton wants to help you out – the company just launched a new educational microsite on synth and sound design called Learning Synths. It aims to teach you the absolute fundamentals of synthesis, explained in clear and simple language that everyone can understand.
The coolest thing is it’s interactive so you can see how synth terms like amplitude, pitch and modulation affect the overall sound of a synth, which are essential building blocks of sound design.
We love these little “Learning” microsites that Ableton puts out (previously, a music theory one was released called Learning Music) because it demystifies the often complex and technical world of synthesis and sound design. It’s a great way to brush up on your fundamentals, or to learn how synths work if you aren’t familiar.
• Learning Synths by Ableton is live now. Check the Learning Synths site for more details.
