Is this the best iPad DJ controller yet? The Reloop Beatpad, announced at the BPM Show today, is an all-metal controller with an integrated iPad stand, designed to work with Algoriddim’s djay 2 software. Featuring Reloop’s trademark low-slung aluminium 15cm jogwheels (with LED edge feedback for needle position), RCA/XLR outputs, 100mm pitch faders, a line/phono Aux in, mic in, and plug’n’play including charging for your iDevice, it certainly looks like a contender.
The Reloop Beatpad features dedicated filters per channel, push encoders for FX and loops, and the ubiquitous drum pad section that controls various performance modes, including up to four hot cues per track, a “bounce” mode for instant loop sequences, and a macro FX mode, plus a sampler. As well as iPad, it is compatible with iPod and iPhone too. It comes with both Lightning and 30-pin USB adaptors, and in addition to djay for iOS it can be used as a Midi controller for Mac or PC, for instance with djay for Mac or Traktor.
• Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed.
