Numark just announced two new Serato DJ controllers, the two-deck Mixtrack Pro FX at $199 and the four-deck Mixtrack Platinum FX at $249. With seriously improved jogwheels, new paddle FX borrowed from battle mixers, and the best build quality yet in Mixtrack controllers, they are great replacements for their popular predecessors.

We’ve got all the details for you today, plus full video reviews and demos, and written reviews of both controllers.

Mixtrack Platinum FX

With four-deck control of the supplied Serato DJ Lite, displays in the jogwheels, and those new paddle FX, plus improved performance pads over the previous model, this controller brings new heights in features and usability at this relatively low price point ($249).

It offers 24-bit audio, a new instant loop section, inputs and outputs for microphone, headphones and speakers, and is USB bus powered.

We loved the improvements to the jogs and the new FX, but felt slightly limited by the supplied software. Read our full Mixtrack Platinum FX review here.

Mixtrack Pro FX

This two-deck model is $50 cheaper than the Mixtrack Platinum FX, and lacks the in-jog displays, replacing them with standard capacitive jogwheels. However, at $199 it represents awesome value for a controller with all the other features that are maintained from the Platinum FX.

Like the Platinum FX, it offers 24-bit audio, a new instant loop section, inputs and outputs for microphone, headphones and speakers, and is USB bus powered.

We felt this was amazing value for money, and the loss of the in-jog displays from the Platinum wasn’t such a big deal – as long as you’re happy with two decks. Read our full Mixtrack Pro FX review here.

About Serato DJ Lite

Serato DJ Lite
Serato DJ Lite is great to get started on, but it’s not a question of “if” but “when” you decide to upgrade to Serato DJ Pro.

The free Serato DJ Lite software as supplied has built-in support for TIDAL and SoundCloud, and offers four-deck DJing with the Mixtrack Platinum FX.

But it lacks in many areas, and buyers ought to factor in upgrading the software to unlock all the performance pads, recording, Slip mode, proper sampler function, more effects and many other pro features lacking from the starter software.

First thoughts…

Overall, both of these units are solid replacements for their predecessors – but click through to our videos and written reviews as linked above for full details. Availability worldwide from May 2020.
