Ask any friend who owns a DJ turntable whether they believe that you can make their turntable play any record backwards. They may think you’re going to show them some weird button combination, rewire their power in reverse, or do something else equally strange – when you show them how it’s actually done, they’ll be doubly amazed!

We used to do this back in the day to win bets, to push our nerves to the limits while DJing, and just for plain fun.

And no, we never did spot any Satanic lines in songs when playing them backwards – but fun fact, DJ PC’s 1991 rave tune “Inssomniak” has a spoken word part where a voice says the word “insomniac”… and if you play it backwards, it says “I must sleep”.
