The Gemini G4V was announced today ahead of the NAMM Show 2013. The unit is a USB DJ controller/audio interface with a four-channel mixer.
The Gemini G4V adds 16 multi-function performance pads and rotary encoders to a basic Dj controller design, and aesthetically is much in the style of the Vestax VCI-380, the Vestax VCI-400 and Pioneer’s DDJ-SX. “The pre-mapped FX controls for Virtual DJ bring immediate results upon first use,” says Gemini, although it’s unclear whether this is so with any supplied version of Virtual DJ LE – quality FX in Virtual DJ LE are conspicuously absent.
The sound card is 24-bit, the faders and jogwheels are 14-bit, and if it has a standalone mixer as I suspect, plus decent output options, it may well be welcomed by the Virtual DJ community for bringing some of the performance functions of those other controllers at a reasonable price. However, to me it is looks clear that this is a controller waiting for Virtual DJ 8 to appear.
