BPM 2012: New Decksavers For This Year’s Gear

Decksaver knows that for many DJs, dropping hundreds on a piece of gear and then not buying a cover for it is sacrilege. And they also know that having a smart acrylic cover for gear is hardwired in to many DJs’ DNA, probably thanks to the iconic Technics lids that have protected delicate turntable parts for decades.

So Decksaver has made a bit of a niche for itself selling these covers, which of course opens the company up to an often-repeated question from DJs: “When is a cover coming out for…” (insert new DJ controller here). Well, at BPM 2012, a whole load of bang-up-to-date covers were announced. Here’s the full list:

Here are the new bits of DJ/production gear that have now got their very own Decksaver covers:

• Vestax VCI-380
• Mixtrack Pro
• Denon SC2900/3900
• Pioneer RMX-1000
• Rane Sixty-Two

Hang on, you might say, what’s the Mixtrack Pro doing in there? My guess is Decksaver didn’t bother to make a cover for this model when it first came out due to its low price point (probably figuring that users wouldn’t want to shell out a relatively high price compared to what they paid for their controller just to get a cover).

But since then, I reckon the company has realised the huge number of Mixtrack Pros that are actually sold (it’s the most popular controller among our readers, for instance, according to our recent reader survey – results coming, soon, by the way).

Which brings me on to my final Decksaver point. If you want to know which DJ controllers are hot and which not, as opposed to manufacturer hype, my guess is you could do a lot worse than buy a drink for someone who works for Decksaver and ask nicely. After all, can you think of anyone else better placed to know? 😉
