Digital vinyl has come a long way, and this week we got to see just how far, as the legendary Invisibl Skratch Piklz crew – Qbert, Shortkut and D-Styles – reunited to drop an unrehearsed routine on four turntables, three mixers, and nothing more than an iPhone and an iPad running Algoriddim’s djay Pro AI software.
Firstly, here’s the routine:
Commenting on the performance, the boys said they were impressed how tight the software was to use, and how they loved being able to both use streaming tracks straight from a phone, and use the “Neural Mix” feature for real-time stems isolation.
They also highlighted that being able to play a set like that from just the phones in their pockets will help them to take their creativity to the next level from now on – an exciting prospect with the talent they share between them, of course.
