Want to give your tunes an 80s vibe? Check out this plugin for your DAW called Sketch Cassette – it adds the sound and feel of a cassette tape to your tune or mixes by introducing effects such as tape hiss, saturation, warbling, wow and flutter, and more. You can adjust these using various sliders in the plugin for an instant throwback to a pre-internet and pre-digital age.

Cassette sales are on the rise, and it’s the current medium of choice in more “discerning” (ie hipster) circles. Instead of going on eBay for an ageing tape deck with questionable playback capabilities, try this plugin on for size if you want to add some good ol’ fashioned lo-fi effects to your mixtapes and productions.

• Sketch Cassette is available now for US$20. Check the Aberrant DSP site for more details.
