Rekord Buddy 2, the app that lets you transfer your DJ playlists, cue points and beatgrids between Traktor, Rekordbox and Serato DJ, will soon let you move your iTunes music library into the app, as part of a move towards Rekord Buddy offering an iTunes replacement for DJs.
“What this means is that DJs will have an alternative to move their iTunes collections over to, and I plan on supporting everything iTunes used to let you do and more.” said Damien Sirkis of Next Audio Labs, the makers of RekordBuddy.
This announcement is timely as Apple is widely expected to announce the death of iTunes in its keynote today, which may not force DJs to move out of iTunes (as the new app, Music, will probably continue to be useful to DJs, perhaps more so), will certainly have many DJs at least scouting around for alternatives.
iTunes support will ship in this week’s new 2.1 beta build from the company.
