Serato just announced a public beta for the latest Serato DJ Pro 2.1.1 version. It includes the TR-Sync feature which lets you sync tempos between Serato DJ Pro and a hardware Roland drum machine connected to your computer such as the Roland TR-8S, TR-8, TR-08 and TR-09. This lets you spin with Serato DJ on your laptop while layering drum loops or percussion on the synced drum machine.
Other new features in the update include the ability to remap controls in Official Serato Accessory (OSA) kit such as the Novation Dicer and Reloop Neon, as well as the addition of the Reloop RP-8000Mk2 as an Official Serato Accessory.
If you’ve got any of the Roland drum machines mentioned above, TR-Sync is a cool way to add some live improvisation to your DJ sets similar to how you’re able to lay down a groove that’s tightly locked when spinning with Serato DJ and Roland’s DJ-808 or DJ-505 controllers, both of which have onboard TR-S drum machines. The ability to remap Official Serato Accessories also gives you more flexibility and configurability options for DJ use.
