Allen & Heath posted a short video teasing a new Xone mixer on its Facebook Page over the weekend. It appears sandwiched between a pair of CDJ-2000NXS2s, and from what we can see in the video it has four channels (with four volume faders) and a crossfader, and a release date of “09.06” (or June 6). The name “Xone:96” also appears on the front of the unit.
It’s been almost 15 years since Allen & Heath released the Xone:92 mixer, which went on to become one of the most beloved club mixers because of its versatility and onboard dual VCF filters. There have been other models released of course such as the Xone DB:4 and DB:2, which are behemoths that pack powerful digital effects processing onboard, and the Xone:PX5 and Xone:43C.
If the Xone:96 follows in the footsteps of the Xone:92 (and judging from the video, that looks to be the case) then it will take the classic Allen & Heath feature set that DJs have grown to love into today’s digital DJ landscape.
