DJ Player Pro, the iOS DJ app that works with the largest variety of DJ controllers, DVS and Midi devices on the platform, just released a new update. Now at version 9.7.1, it sports a simpler interface with less control clutter, and touch gestures have been updated to make manual beatmatching more intuitive: swiping and tapping on the waveforms lets you do pitch bends, while pinching on them lets you zoom in or out. You can also do beat jumps by double-tapping on a waveform while a track’s playing.
DJ Player is one of the longest-running DJ apps on iOS (the first time I reviewed the app was back in 2011), and it has matured into one of the most sophisticated iPhone / iPad DJ solutions. It’s quick when it comes to adding forward-thinking features: it’s already added Stems support, track recommendations, Midi mapping and DVS. Features-wise, it’s ahead of every other app in the iOS space – some of these features don’t even appear on some laptop DJ apps.
