With high-speed internet connections becoming the norm, we were wondering how many of you guys live stream your DJ sets? Streaming your sets online can be an excellent tool to help you feel some “pressure” when practising at home and also to help promote yourself as a DJ.

Services like Facebook Live, Youtube, Chew and Twitch offer DJs a free way to live stream their sets, and there are plenty of apps around that do a similar thing too (Mixlr, for example). Boiler Room is now a globally famous brand that started off with a few guys live streaming a set in one of their bedrooms.

In the past, I have used Mixlr to live stream my bedroom sets and I felt that it helped me to improve massively. I was constantly looking to see who was listening, and that took away the option of stopping and walking off in a sulk when I trainwrecked a mix. The added bonus was that my sets were all recorded, so I was able to listen back and critique them afterwards. This also helped me improve considerably.

So, over to you: Have you ever live streamed one of your sets? Where do you do it from? What equipment did you use? Is it something you would like to do? Let us know in the comments below…
