Beatport just announced the closing of its Beatport Streaming service and mobile app.
Beatport just announced the closing of its Beatport Streaming service and mobile app effective 13 May 2016.

Beatport just announced that it is discontinuing its music streaming service. All music streams on the site, along with videos, news, and event features, will no longer be accessible as of 13 May 2016. The Beatport iOS and Android mobile apps will also be discontinued. The Beatport Store, which is the main service of the Beatport brand, will remain operational.

While this is maybe not unexpected following the fall of its parent company SFX Entertainment, it may mean that Beatport’s core business – as a digital download store for DJs – may end up being stronger alone than as part of a rather more general “dance music and lifestyle hub”. However, until a buyer is found, it does seem the bets are off.
