SoundCloud just announced the launch of Stations, a new feature on its iOS and Android apps that puts together a stream of music based on your tunes you like, what’s currently playing, or even a search query. Just press the Start Station button, and SoundCloud assembles the station for you, and you can access past stations you’ve listened to straight from your profile.
It looks to be a great way to discover new tunes that you otherwise may not come across on paid for / mainstream listening services like Spotify and Apple Music, and while SoundCloud has come under fire in the past few years because of its strict takedown policies and account suspension for tons of DJs around the world (myself included), it still has a strong community for creators, and that’s what you’re tapping into when you listen through the new Stations feature.
• SoundCloud Stations can be accessed through the iOS or Android versions of the SoundCloud app. Check the SoundCloud website for more details.
When was the last time you used SoundCloud to find new tunes? Do you still consider it an essential part of your music discovery process, or have you moved on to other services? If so, which ones? Let us know below.
