Pioneer has chosen the NAMM Show to announce an update to its six-year-old flagship headphone design for DJs, with the launch of the HJD-2000 Mk2 model, a direct replacement for the well-loved HDJ-2000s.
Of course Pioneer is claiming they’re the best ever, and has lined up a whole host of current hot DJs and veterans to extol the new model’s virtues in the promo video, so expect lots of talk of “great isolation”, “you don’t have top have them too loud,”, “they go really loud!”, etc.
Technically they look pretty strong with a wide frequency range and of course they’ve had an aethetic overhaul too, with memory foam ear pads and “leather-feel covers”, plus a hard case to fit them snugly when they’re folded down.
Bottom line is if you ever owned and loved the ‘2000s (and may did/do) and are in the market for a new pair of DJ headphones they’re bound to be on your list, and if you want the best DJ headphones Pioneer makes, this is them.
