It all began around 3 years ago for me when I purchased my first controller in the form of a Numark Mixtrack Pro. During those first couple of years, I was simply a bedroom DJ who tirelessly messed around on Virtual DJ. Last summer I started to throw some of my mixes on to Soundcloud just to see what response I got. I would like to think since then that I have taken major steps towards achieving one of my lifetime ambitions which is to be a DJ in a nightclub. (It is still a journey in progress) It was off the back of an intense 3 days worth of DJ lessons that I decided I wanted to go down the digital DJ path and purchase a Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk2. Ever since November 2014, I have been practicing and preparing sets during most of the evenings I have free to myself. From there I decided to open a Mixcloud account and regularly post mixes. Whilst I appreciate I am nowhere near the finished article, I am pleased to say that day by day, I am building up a slightly bigger audience on Mixcloud and I am also receiving good feedback along with the greatly appreciated advice. 2015 Target: Play in a club by the end of the year Even if this target cannot be achieved by the end of 2015, I would like to think that I can take major steps towards achieving this goal. I feel as though I need some advice & guidance from a DJ who has been there and done it certainly when it comes to promoting myself and building up a following. Whist I am getting a few followers every other week, I feel as though there are techniques/tricks in the book that I am missing when it comes to the social media and building up a big enough following that appeals to any clubs that may be looking to hire a DJ. I appreciate a lot of the DJs hired are actually hired based on the amount of people they can bring to the club instead of how good they are technically (not to say that this isn't crucial either!). If any experienced DJ's have any advice they can offer me at all or any opportunities to learn and go towards achieving my main goal, I would be very interested. Likewise if anyone wants to know more about my journey so far, please feel free to ask me. My main genres when it comes to mixing include House (All kinds of sub genres), Trance and EDM. I'm a big fan of Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance!
