The place I work at has a monthly Goa Trance party. And for the life of me, having worked during many of these parties, I still can't graps the appeal of this form of music.. Can anyone here explain it to me? Because to me, it's just too much of a soft beat without any proper melodies that drive the songs away from just being repetitive and sounding all the same. I do like Psy Trance though, it's a nice genre of remarkable and distinctive songs. While Goa to me all sounds like the same bland stuff. Am I missing something, or is Goa just.. bad?..
I've always considered goa and psy to be the same thing. Apparently goa typically has a heavier/more pronounced bassline than psy but normally I can't tell the difference. The rest is just up to personal taste. You can't say that something's just bad. I imagine that the way you feel about goa is similar to how I feel about most rap music but that's still just my personal take on it. There are many out there who feel the exact opposite that I do and consider all my favorites to be "bad." That's interesting though that your work's got a monthly goa party, I'd like to find one of those to see what it's about.
Psy and goa... go together, but from my perspective, goa has more samples in it, and is slightly more dynamic, and you could say it's slightly techno influenced.
