I stopped by that one recent topic on Francois K today and saw my comment about Nigerian website labor might be setting off a few tempers. I want to address this. First off, I am honestly sorry I called out Nigeria in my reply. I should have just said "foreign labor". I honestly have nothing personally against Nigerians or anyone. The reason I mentioned Nigerians was simply because of how many web developers and designers lately I see complain about companies outsourcing their work to Nigeria for much less money than they would pay Americans. At the time I simply felt this instance was a great metaphor to vinyl DJs complaining how digital DJs are undercutting them for DJ gigs. My comments were NOT meant to demean Nigerians, and I apologize if I gave off that vibe. My comments were merely to use Free Market Capitalism to explain why vinyl DJs should stop complaining and work instead to build a better product so they can take the gigs from the cheaper guys who don't offer as much. I still stand by the idea. If you're the guy on 1200s who can show up with 500-1000 people paying cover to see you, and they're all raving about the amazing show you put on, then you'll win the game in life. Promoters will book you over a kid with an S4 and a Macbook who maybe brings 100 people because you're a better investment for his money. However, if that kid with his S4 can rock a room of 1000 people while you're doing "ok" with them, then it's not a question of the format...but of the person playing. Anyway, I'm sure many of you forgot all of this, but I don't like leaving bad impressions on people...and I wanted to set the record straight. I welcome ANYONE of ANY RACE or ANY ETHNIC ORIGIN who comes out to make industries better, more efficient, and thus drives quality up. As I've stated other times, the competition with foreign labor from places like India, China, and Africa is why I push myself in my normal job to know more, learn more, and do more. If anyone has any issues, please don't hesitate to contact me and we'll talk. Thank you!
