My DJ Software is Traktor Pro, because I prefer software that can be configured and tweaked like I want it. I am almost never satisfied with the default configuration of software. Also NI creates some of the best DJ hardware in the world and Traktor is included in the box.
Traktor pro Because i like the FX and the ease of mapping. If vdj would get some decent FX, I would use that, so I could bring in video.
a use traktor because its the best... its that simply..,lol its all depends on what music you dj.. if you linear mix then any program thats solid is good but if you want to take dj to the next level and put ure personal stamp on ure mixs then traktor is the way to go. its the most solid program on the market with the best effects.
My DJ software atm is Traktor. I find it the easiest to play around with using only mouse and keyboard. I will try using both Serato Itch and Traktor when my Novation Twitch arrives. Then i will choose which one I like the most.
My DJ software is Traktor, and this is why: It gives me the flexibility to get a little crazy with mapping, effects and looping but also allows me to do standard mixing just as easy. The 2.5 update will add another level to mixing, all in the same software.
My DJ software is currently Ableton, reason being is I've been using it since 2004, initially as a production tool but it seemed an obvious cross-over to start DJ-ing with it (was a vinyl and CD man before that). Coming from a production background (as opposed to purely DJ) I love the workflow and flexibility in terms of FX, signal routing, use of dummy clips etc. and it got me out of the mindset of DJ-ing just being about 2 or 3 channels. Having said that, I recently used Traktor at a gig, and am considering getting under the hood of it a bit more. Interestingly all the other DJ's I spoke with at the gig who were using laptops (about 10 in total) were all on some flavour of Traktor. I'll still use Ableton for doing re-edits beforehand and stuff.
My DJ software is Traktor Pro 2 because it is the one i feel most comforable on and when i started DJing i felt it was the most user friendly one, now i have a Denon MC3000 and it workd perfectly with it. My mixes try to be as smooth as possible and with the tools Traktor provides i can achieve that goal at the best of my knowledge and technique. Also im able to map certain effects very easly and in that way create build ups whenever i want. I upgraded yesterday to Traktor Pro 2.5 and its incredible the new musical possibilities that can be achivied with the new "remix" interface.
My software is Mixxx (for now) because it's free, and I can use timecode with it the bpm detection is horrible though, which is why I'm glad I know how to beatmatch by ear.
I think this is because of the lack of parallel waveforms; my friend was incredibly confused by this too.
My DJ software is Traktor Pro and this is why: it allows me to customize all my mappings and preferences more than any other software, and because all the technical things come to me easily.
My favorite DJ Software is Serato's Itch. Its simple without being complicated. I love the multicolored waveforms. It lets me mix creatively while entertaining my party guests. It hasn't crahed on my (yet ) And hey it came with my Twitch.
I seriously dont agree with this. while traktor does give you infinite control in midi and allows all sorts of macros, ive seen more cpu crashes happen on traktor than ssl. as for the effects, most people i know use the on board mixer effects rather than traktor. for all out ease of use , you cant beat ssl and it verticle wave forms make performance dj'in (scratchin and what not) easier and beat matching (with out sync) also easier. traktor is great for what it does technically but as a dvs i find it lacking
I use traktor because of the great oppurtunity of mapping, but this is exactly what i miss in traktor. It would be (for me) so much better if it had parallel waveforms. I dont understand why there isnt 2 or 3 standard lay outs like in ITCH. It's the only thng that bugs me....
My favourite DJ software id Djay 4.0 and the reason why is i have a Vestax Spin and the software integrates perfectly witht he controller and my Macbook. Yes it lacks the bells and whistles of the big boys but it does the job and i can record my sets with a click of a button. I will be changing to Itch once i get my VCI-380 though
Hi, I am not a DJ. Just a hobbyist but I felt like I have listened to many kinds of music much more than any DJ around my town. I first started using VDJ for practicing and entertaining my friends a few years back. Since my last birthday, Ive decided to buy a controller to improve my DJ ability and Traktor was my choice. Im impressed with sound quality and effects of Traktor Pro. Comparing with VDJ, Traktor is more professional (sorry, its just my own opinion) way of mixing. Its not as easy as VDJ but thats it, the more difficult you do, the more professional you are. What I have to do is just practice more and more.... I enjoy Traktor.
My DJ software is Ableton Live because it gives me control over my music to use songs as a launching pad for new creations instead of enslaving me to going from track to track between decks. I like to incorporate live synthesizer performance into my sets as well, and Ableton gives me the mix of tools necessary to do that. (Also, Ableton's warp tool has always been the most intuitive beat-gridding protocol for me)
The gateway drug for me was DJay too. Then I tried VDJ, which was OK for me and Traktor, which I didn't like much. Then I tried ITCH and Traktor again more in depth (coupled with the choice on my first REAL Controller). I'm in love with Traktor ever since then. But ITCH is nice software too, they just really have to step it up a little bit and integrate the other Serato brands more to provide people with an upgrade path. And of course Traktor is open to all kinds of controllers. The limited choice in the hardware department for me is not exactly a plus for Itch. But if they have a controller that is spot on for your way of doing things, more power to you!
My dj software is traktor pro2 and this is why. I used the very first version ever of traktor this>>>> I've used every version of traktor since then and just love it.....i have tried PCDJ red and VDJ but hated them and always went back to traktor. So i suppose it's just a case of i'm very comfortable using traktor which i think is the best dj software out there, plus i think i'm just set in my ways seeing as i've been using it for 10 years or so.
Props to you, DJ Psychotrance For using traktor since it look like that. I didnt even know traktor looked like that before. What controller were you using at the time? I mainly use ITCH but im known to play a set in traktor from time to time.
When i used the very first version of traktor ( i still have it in original box under my PC desk, it was called traktor dj mixer) there was no controller integration at all so i was just using keyboard and mouse, it wasn't as advanced as what traktor is now, but you could use 2 soundcards with it...one for master and one for cue, monitor, also, and this shows how long ago it was native instruments were in partnership with steinberg the makers of cubase as it also says Steinberg on the box as well as Native instruments. It was the software that got me started in the digital world and i took to like a duck to water as they say.
