Hello Everyone Does Anybody have any Experience of using Mixmeister (7) Please as DJ Software ? I have watched some Videos and it looks Cool; but I don't know if it is Suitable for DJ Use; If it is just a 'Poor Mans' Entry Level Software for DJ'ing that is Cool; But Any Reviews; Good or Bad would be Very Welcome; Thank You
my friend at school bought that numark mix meister control, cant remember the actual name, but its brilliant for actually making mix's of music. he made a half hour mix and then just played it. if your looking to sort out all of your material before an actual set then this is for you, but if you want to live in the moment, i wouldnt go with it my self
I know that one of the two DJs at Clique, a renound club night here in manchester uses it (the pair of them have won DJs of the year by the local manchester evening news and other accolades by the national dance mags).
Wow ! That's Pretty Amazing ! I was wondering Why Mixmeister Fusion is More Expensive than Traktor; there had to be some reason
I've put mixes together as well using MixMeister, great tool. A colleague of mine used it for a while playing live before he transitioned over fully to Traktor. There happens to be a controller available for it as well from Numark: http://www.numark.com/mmcontrol
Funnily enough been talking to them today, we may have a giveaway competition soon and a full review...
The way I used to use it was to reconstruct mixes when I started.... Id free style on traktor for about 30 mins... Take my set list from traktor and put it into mix meister then did like a pretty much flawless mix being able to edit everything as i listened back and didnt like it... I love its way of being able to edit stuff that your not happy with... Its the daw of djing... These days mixing in traktor is handier
Theres that and that my mixing got a lot better so didnt feel the need to do it... If your mixing isnt too tight its a good alternative though
I have it but haven't used it live. It needs to analyze your music first like Ableton and creates a little mmn data file like a .asd file. It reads bpm and keys well. The effects control is weird and not easy to use on a keyboard. The controller looks cool but it's freaking big and hard to find online. Is it still made? What's best is, grab 10 songs and it will lay them out horizontally w beatmatched end/starts. You can move these w a mouse and adjust volumes very easily. Play and save the mix and it sounds like hours of work but only took minutes. Ironically I don't use it cuz it's too easy and I'd rather make mixes while learning Traktor. But what the hell it works. There are 3 controllers w confusing names. You want "Control" if you can find it.
Been using this software for 3 years now. Excellent tool for constructing studio mixes ... very precise entry/exit points ... adjust the volume/treble/base on very precise portions/selections of the track. Looping, etc. I simply adore this software and so was wondering if there's any other software out there that is as good or better to construct studio-style mixes ? As "Stiffy" & "Christopher" have mentioned, it can prove "too-easy" for just laying out tracks & getting them mixed perfectly "in advance" ... a pre-decided set. You can also simply drop in tracks live into the timeline & get them all perfectly aligned. For live mixing though I'd say it has "limited" usage & applicability. Traktor (or any other equivalent) would be the way to go for live applications. HTH.
Hello Prakash ; Thank You for you In Depth reply; that is Excellent My Step-Father gave the Software to me as it came Free with his SoundCard; but if you were looking for a Product that would help you to Construct Audio-Style Mixes 'More Professionally; I can Certainly Recommend Ableton to you; and they have a Trial Version on offer for you to try out
Thanks Emma for the tip. I'm just a little worried though about Ableton's "learning curve" ... Also, would I need any musical "theory" background as in chords, etc. to use Ableton effectively ? Sadly, I lack this musical theory background. Could you possible advise/help me out on another point (a little off-topic) ... When I'm creating my mix I'd like to embed my name at the beginning/end of the mix & perhaps during certain transition points. Any ideas on how to do this ? Also, if i'd like my name in a "female" or "robotic" voice, how can I accomplish that ?? I have posted this in another thread where it might be more appropriate to reply: http://digitaldjtips.com/forum/threads/embedding-my-name-or-message-in-my-mix.792/
Hello Prakash There is a Learning Curve to Ableton certainly; but there are Many Tutorials to help you also (Specifically to What You Wish To Accomplish); and I also have a Vast Amount of Knowledge on the Programme; however there must also be other Digital Audio Workstations; though it is Not Possible to DJ in Reason or Logic (though I may be Wrong about Logic); but the Learning Curves with Reason and Logic are Much Greater than Ableton; Oh yes; No Musical Theory is Necessary for Ableton as I have None If you could get a Trial Copy of 'Magic Music Maker'; the Learning Curve is Much Less; and it is Possible to Create an Audio-Style Mix with this Software too; (and the Full Version of the Software is Very Cheap) I have answered your Robotic Voice/Embeding Voice in your other Thread you made
Well ... I have been reading a few of your posts & have noted you're an avid Ableton user. I'd certainly like to give it a spin when I can afford the time. I'm a software consultant + musician (percussionist) + DJ and so am usually juggling for time I think you probably meant "MagiX" (a small typo) ... heard of that too. Will probably try to give that a spin too someday and will certainly knock your door for any Ableton pointers when required. Thanks so much for the detailed reply.
Yes; I did mean 'Magix' I still have Magix 12 and Magix 16 if you needed any Help with that; But Yes; Ableton is my 'Box Of Tricks'; and if you Need Any Help Whatsoever; then I will be Here to Help You (however Small or Large the Question may be); within the Same Day; and if I Need to spend some Time Organising a Respectful Reply with Tuition; then I will make it a Priority for you
