This may be a stupid question, but how is all that music free, and if it isn't please tell me. Is it free because I will play it in public so the artists will get promoted? Thanks for helping I am kind of worried about using it.
It depends. If you are a DJ at a club or similar venue then the venue is responsible for paying the performance rights to the recording agencies. If you are a DJ that's charging people money to come and see you independent of a club then you are responsible for paying the performance rights to the songs you want to use.If you are DJ'ing at a party where people are not being charged then you are OK with not paying the performance rights as long as you have legally obtained the songs.DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer and all that jazz. Take my words with a grain of salt.
Hi Nick - Record pools have been around for decades, this is the digital equivalent. You pay a subscription to get promos upfront through these services. The record labels are dealt with by Promo Only on your behalf, and you're expected to use the music in your DJ sets which helps promote it. It's all legal. That's why we could only offer it to US citizens, as Promo Only is a US-based pool.
