While country music DJs definitely exist, we readily admit we’re not well placed to answer our reader’s question today, which is why we’re asking for your help.

Digital DJ Tips reader Nathan writes: “I play a small bar where Saturday nights are considered club night. I have been ask to play some country music during the evening. I am personally not a huge fan therefore do not know a lot about the genre. How should I go about throwing some country in my mix?”

Digital DJ Tips says:

trap
“Country trap”. Yes, this stuff appears to exist.

Little story for you Nathan. We were playing a game here at Digital DJ Tips a year or two back, trying to invent new musical genres by putting old ones together. One we had a good laugh about the implausibility of was crossing EDM and country. No sooner did we say it than Avicii had a string of hits in a styler that could definitely be described as “country EDM” and a new genre was apparently born.

That said, we definitely admit we’re not going to be able to help you hugely here. Truth is, while the Avicii-style EDM stuff was as big here as anywhere, there appears to be little call for playing country music at club nights outside of the USA, so we’ve had no direct experience of it. That’s why I’d like to throw this one over to the readers…

So – do you play a club night where you’re expected to play country? Can you help Nathan? Please leave your thoughts in the comments.
