Serato just released the latest version of Serato DJ. Now at version 1.7.4, the update includes the Serato DJ Club Kit, which bundles both Serato DJ and the Serato DVS add-on. With this latest update, Serato DVS is now compatible with the Pioneer DJM-900NXS, Pioneer DJM-850, Allen & Heath DB:2, and Allen & Heath DB:4 mixers, as well as the forthcoming Allen & Heath Xone:43C digital mixer, which looks very similar to the newly-released Xone:43 albeit with USB connectivity and Serato certification.
Other new features include Beatjump for going through your track in different measure increments, master video FX for VJing, and karaoke file support for playing back MP3+G files.
Serato is gunning for booth dominance by making its software backwards compatible with older pro hardware mixers. The Pioneer DJ and Allen & Heath mixers mentioned above are staples in bars and clubs the world over, so it’s never been easier to plug in your laptop and get the party started without having to fiddle with a separate DVS box. If you throw in HID connectivity for CDJs, then you’ve got a truly portable DVS that sets up in seconds, just don’t forget to bring a USB hub and leads.
