American Audio is launching a new line of speakers at NAMM: The CPX Series.

American Audio is to show a new line of PA speakers at this year’s NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. Dubbed the “road warrior” by product testers, the CPX Series consists of “highly durable, no compromise active speakers ideal for live sound installations and mobile systems at an affordable cost”. With a variety of sizes ranging from a compact cabinet with an 8″ woofer (the CPX-8A) to a 15″ one (CPX-15A), the new CPX line has a model that’s a shoe in for your own heavy duty use without breaking the bank.

“Up until now many manufacturers have reduced the ruggedness of their speaker cabinets in favour of lowering the weight and cost. American Audio has designed an affordable, no compromise cabinet that weighs about the same as a conventional speaker, but is far more durable,” said Tom Freret, national sales manager for the company. “Our goal with all of our American Audio active speakers is to make them multi-functional for DJs, karaoke, and for smaller PA applications.”

While we’ve yet to check these out, any affordable PA gear is in principle good by us, as we’ve seen far too many home stereos, studio monitors and the like blown at parties by DJs who think their domestic speakers can cope! Investing in PA is always a good choice as soon as you start playing even the smallest parties.

Are you looking into purchasing your own PA rig for gigs? Or would you rather let the venue and promoter worry about all that and just get on with playing music? Tell us what you think!
