In this quick video talkthrough of the new Pioneer DJM-900SRT mixer for Serato DJ from the floor of the BPM Show, you’ll see a unit that may well become a club standard. It’s going to be fascinating indeed to see how many clubs now choose this Serato DJ-enabled mixer over the current club favourite, the Pioneer DJM-900nexus (which as we know is Traktor Scratch compatible).
Of course, Pioneer wins either way, and some punters have understandably commented on how nice it would be if the company could just manufacture a “universal” mixer that worked with both these programs, but that’s not likely to happen. However, it turns out that the DJM-900SRT actually has a couple of differences that go beyond the flavour of DVS software it can work with. Find out about those in the video, and please let us know your thoughts on where this is all going and which mixer you think clubs may now choose when it’s time to replace or upgrade – we think things may be about to get very interesting indeed.
So, four DVS decks? Sync button for vinyl? Serato vs Traktor in the DJ booth? Have your say in the comments!
